5/2/2003 - Fujitsu PC Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited (TSE:6702), announced it has signed its largest Tablet PC deal to date with Visiting Nurse Service of New York (VNSNY). The home health care organization will equip 2,400 of its mobile caregivers with Fujitsu Stylistic® ST4000 Tablet PCs, allowing them to accurately and efficiently take clinical notes and improve patient care.
"We selected Fujitsu because it offered the industry's most sophisticated and reliable pen-based computing solutions," said Rick Stazesky, director of information services at VNSNY. "We've stayed with Fujitsu because of its proven commitment to the market and technology."
Visiting Nurse Service of New York has relied on Fujitsu tablets for years. The organization first deployed Fujitsu Stylistic tablets in 1995 to enable the electronic exchange of information between staff. Shortly after the introduction of the Fujitsu Stylistic ST4000 Tablet PC, which runs the Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition operating system, the organization decided to seize the opportunity and harness this powerful new technology for itself.
"Performance is a key requirement because of the demanding applications we run on the system to enable the effective electronic delivery of critical patient-related data," said Stazesky. "The Fujitsu Stylistic ST4000 Tablet PC provides full-featured desktop PC functionality in a flexible and mobile solution."
According to Stazesky, VNSNY has already deployed 350 Fujitsu Stylistic ST4000 Tablet PCs and plans to roll out 150 more each month for the duration of the year.
"We are very excited to see the wide scale deployment of the Tablet PC from the Visiting Nurse Service of New York," said Bill Mitchell, vice president of the Tablet PC division at Microsoft. "It is no surprise that the functionality and versatility of the Tablet PC has been quickly embraced by health care professionals. Caregivers, such as the Visiting Nurses, are on their feet for the majority of their workday, and a Tablet PC enables them to quickly and easily access patients' medical records, pull up prescription history and record vital information immediately at the point of care, maximizing productivity and improving personalized care to their patients."
The Fujitsu Stylistic ST4000 Tablet PC blends quality and reliability into a form factor that meets the needs of highly mobile professionals. The innovative PC weighs a mere 3.2 pounds, measures an ultra-slim 0.88 inches thin and features an Ultra Low Voltage Mobile Intel® Pentium® III Processor - M, which supports Enhanced Intel® SpeedStep® technology. Combined with a shock-mounted hard drive and up to 768MB of system memory, the Fujitsu Stylistic ST4000 Tablet PC offers exceptional reliability, uncompromising performance and extended battery life.
"Our decade-long experience in the tablet market gives us an intimate understanding of the form factor down to every minute detail," said Sara Nelson, vice president of marketing, Fujitsu PC Corporation. "This has enabled us to offer a product that delivers an unsurpassed level of productivity, performance and versatility."
The Stylistic ST4000 Tablet PC can be used in places where traditional notebook PCs are not practical or widely accepted. Users can carry their Stylistic ST4000 Tablet PC like a notepad to enter data, take notes or access information unobtrusively while on a client's job site or in a meeting. They can also use their Tablet PC as a notebook or desktop computer by either complementing it with a keyboard in the Fujitsu attaché case or placing it on their desk in the optional Tablet Dock.
