5/1/2003 - Payless ShoeSource, Inc. has selected Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc.'s GlobalSTORE point-of-sale software application as its chain-wide POS platform. Payless had previously used different applications for stores in different geographic areas.
Payless ShoeSource Inc. is the largest family footwear retailer in the Western Hemisphere. The company operates approximately 5,000 stores offering quality footwear and accessories at affordable prices. In addition, customers can buy shoes over the Internet through Payless.com(SM) at www.payless.com.
"Fujitsu demonstrated through its ROI Analyzer tool how the return on investment in a single software platform could more than justify the expenditure," said Dave VonFeldt, director of information systems development for Payless. "The less time our employees have to spend worrying about technology, the more time they can spend with customers."
Starting in January, Payless began delivering the software to its stores in 11 Central and South American countries;140 stores had been installed by the end of March. The company will continue to deploy GlobalSTORE across the rest of its stores in the U.S. and Canada.
