"Fujitsu demonstrated through its ROI Analyzer tool how the return on investment in a single software platform could more than justify the expenditure," said Dave VonFeldt, director of information systems development for Payless. "The less time our employees have to spend worrying about technology, the more time they can spend with customers."

Starting in January, Payless began delivering the software to its stores in 11 Central and South American countries;140 stores had been installed by the end of March. The company will continue to deploy GlobalSTORE across the rest of its stores in the U.S. and Canada.

"By empowering retailers to take control of their own IT systems, we help them drive cost out of their operations," said Keith McNamara, Fujitsu senior vice president, general merchandise and software operations. "GlobalSTORE is a rich application designed to simplify maintenance; it is based on the global experience of the worldwide Fujitsu group. Through this experience we have developed a compelling offering that has demonstrated its ability to meet the challenges of today's retail environment time and again for retailers such as Best Buy, Sears Tire Center, REI and others both in the U.S. and worldwide."

GlobalSTORE is Fujitsu's Microsoft Windows®-based integrated retail software platform. Its retail-specific, modular architecture and rapid-development tools make GlobalSTORE easy to customize and maintain, to lower the retailer's total cost of ownership. It integrates seamlessly with customer relationship management, store systems, kiosks and in-store mobile computing. GlobalSTORE's Windows platform also supports multimedia and browser-based applications to dramatically reduce training time for store associates.
