Concurrent Technologies Extends Temperature of Dual PMC Host I/O Board

4/30/2003 - Concurrent Technologies announces an extended temperature version of the popular VP 110/010; a VME based, intelligent dual PMC host I/O board utilizing the 800MHz Low Voltage Intel® Pentium III Processor 512K. The VP 110/010-E supports a range of applications that require an operating environment of -25°C to +70°C, typically within the defense, transportation and industrial control markets. The two 64-bit 66MHz PMC sites are available for user functions or for the addition of any standard PMC modules. The PMC I/O connector signals, from both PMC sites, are routed to the front panel and rear connectors. An on-board connector supports the addition of an optional PMC carrier board – for expansion to a total of four PMC modules. The VP 110/010-E provides an EIDE interface via the P2 connector and an optional on-board EIDE CompactFlashTM extended temperature carrier too.

The VP 110/010-E provides, soldered on board, 512 Mbytes of 133MHz ECC SDRAM that can easily be upgraded to 1 Gbyte via the onboard memory socket. Other memory is provided, with up to 64 Mbytes of Application Flash memory and up to 2 Mbytes of battery backed SRAM. At the core of the VP 110/010-E is the Low Voltage 800MHz Intel Pentium III “Tualatin” (0.13 micron) processor in a “Flip Chip” package. The processor supports 512 Kbytes of high-speed secondary cache and, in conjunction with the ServerWorksTM ServerSetTM III LE chipset, operates a 133MHz front side bus alongside a 32-bit PCI bus and a 64-bit PCI bus. As with all Concurrent Technologies’ designs, heat sinks are used in preference to fans for cooling the CPU.

Other features available are a dual 10baseT/100base-TX Ethernet interface, keyboard/mouse interface, PC real-time clock, 1 RS232 serial channel, 1 USB port, parallel printer port, watchdog timer and long duration timer. A P2 or P2/P0 breakout module is provided to facilitate integration in specific applications requiring rear I/O connection.

For ease of integration, the VP 110/010-E supports many of today’s leading operating systems, including VxWorks®, Linux®, LynxOS®, Windows® 2000, Windows® XP, Windows® XP Embedded, Windows NT®, RTX®, SolarisTM and MS-DOS®.
