ProSyst´s mBedded Server Powers VTT's Virtual Home Environment Project

4/25/2003 - ProSyst Software AG, a leading technology provider for the Internet-based control and networking of electronic devices, and VTT Electronics cooperate in the VHE-middleware Project. VTT is an impartial expert organisation headquartered in Finland that carries out technical and techno-economic research and development work. The VHE project aims to define middleware software technologies that are used in the application server and in end-user terminals for establishing virtual home environments. The users will then be able to retain and personalize their services anywhere at anytime in both wireless and wired environments. ProSyst offers end-to-end solutions for the network-based control of devices and the delivery of services and applications into vehicles and homes.

VTT`s research within the VHE consortium involves concepts around residential gateways and providing middleware for them. This layer between home automation network and the Internet is based on the OSGi compliant service platform from Prosyst Software AG. The ProSyst mBedded Server was selected for implementing a smart card based user authentication in the gateway, controlling access to the automation services from the Internet. ProSyst's mBedded Server is an open, scalable and modular service delivery platform with many ready-to-use services such as remote control, maintenance, diagnostics, data readout and dynamic software updates.

VTT selected the mBedded Server due to its excellent security features. The cooperation with Prosyst Software AG is continuing to be very fruitful for VTT and both sides hope to continue it in the future.

Daniel Schellhoss, EVP Prosyst Software AG: "We are glad that our mBedded Server helps the VHE Middleware consortium to make progress with their project and we look forward to continue the cooperation with VTT in the future."
