Wireless networks are gaining popularity at cyber-cafés and public area hotspots such as airports. This results in security concerns. iGateway SecureAP and iGateway SecureAP-PLUS offer a comprehensive, integrated embedded security software for a wireless access point (WAP) based on IEEE 802.1x security standard. It provides robust wireless security by protecting wireless users against rogue access points and network intruders from getting access to the confidential company information. Future versions of iGateway SecureAP shall include roaming and support for WPA.
iGateway SecureAP-PLUS additionally comes with a built-in authentication server that allows processing of the EAP protocols on the access point. The integration of the wireless access point core and the authentication server eliminates the need for additional network resources, such as the RADIUS server.
IEEE 802.1X protocol is a widely accepted standard for wireless security. It uses the extensible authentication protocol (EAP) to communicate with the authentication servers. iGateway SecureAP and iGateway SecureAP-PLUS supports different flavors of EAP including certificate based, EAP-TLS, EAP-TTLS. Intoto’s 802.1X EAP implementation has been tested with products from leading equipment vendors for interoperability and can be widely deployed.
