Johnstech Acquires Agilent's YieldPro and YieldPro Array Technology

4/25/2003 - Johnstech International Corporation, a leading semiconductor test solutions and interconnect technologies provider, and Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:A) announced that Johnstech has agreed to purchase the Agilent YieldPro and YieldPro Array contactor technologies and products.

The agreement includes a license to use existing patents. It also includes design and manufacturing methodologies and an installed customer base. Johnstech is expected to become the sole provider worldwide of the YieldPro and YieldPro Array products and plans to continue Agilent's work to further develop and enhance these technologies. Agilent released the YieldPro in 1995 and YieldPro Array in 2000 as the "final millimeter" for the Agilent SOC tester platforms. With this acquisition, Johnstech plans to open up these technologies to all RF/Wireless, High Speed Digital, Analog, and Mixed Signal customers that require high performance contacting needs.

"Johnstech's acquisition of the YieldPro and YieldPro Array technologies provides the industry with a strong market leader that offers a full breadth of high performance interconnect technologies," said David Johnson, Johnstech president and CEO. "Agilent has always been one of our most admired integrated test solutions providers because of their excellent technology, so we're honored to have worked with them on this acquisition."

"We have many customers who are transitioning to LGA and new pad-style applications where we believe this product will provide the high-end electrical and mechanical performance required," said Johnson. "Of course, current Agilent customers and our current customer base, will always receive the excellent service and support that they have learned to count on from us and Agilent."

"We are confident that Johnstech has the ability to deliver this technology to the marketplace and keep our long-standing customers satisfied," said Thomas Newsom, vice president and general manager of Agilent's SOC Business Unit. "They possess both the expertise in high-frequency contactor applications as well as a strong support network demanded by customers."

The Johnstech and Agilent products are complementary. Both contactor technologies provide a wiping contact that uses an elastomer for compliance. This ensures a short electrical path and excellent mechanical life. Additional strengths of the YieldPro and YieldPro Array products are their long Mean Time Between Assists (MTBA) and interchangeability with existing load boards designed for spring pin contactors.

Johnstech will begin selling the Agilent YieldPro and YieldPro Array contactors through its sales and service network.

Johnstech International Corporation designs and manufactures high-performance test and interconnect products for the semiconductor industry. The company's patented technologies were introduced to the market in 1992. Johnstech is headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota and it has sales and support worldwide.
