4/23/2003 - Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) and El Camino GmbH announced the immediate availability of two new development kits for customers building powerful system-on-a-programmable-chip (SOPC) solutions with Altera's StratixTM and ExcaliburTM devices. El Camino's DIGILAB SX development kit includes a Stratix device and is built to support powerful network processing applications. The DIGILAB XA development kit includes an Excalibur device and is designed specifically to support embedded processing applications.
"With the DIGILAB development kit, customers now have ideal low-cost, high-performance programmable platforms for prototyping and verifying their applications," said Andreas Bahrs, managing director of sales at El Camino. "As an Altera Certified Design Center partner with more than 15 years of programmable logic experience, El Camino is capable of helping customers achieve the optimal performance of their high-density designs."
"El Camino's new DIGILAB SX development kit sets a new high-density standard by taking advantage of our largest Stratix device, the EP1S80 device. This kit offers our customers a robust prototyping platform," said Mike Phipps, senior marketing manager of Altera's development kit program. "El Camino and Altera have worked closely over the years to ensure customers the highest level of design support and tools necessary to build their SOPC designs."
About DIGILAB SX Development Kit
The DIGILAB SX development kit is a high-end prototyping system based on Altera's Stratix device family. It provides system designers with an economical solution for hardware prototyping and verification. Any Altera Stratix device in a 956-pin BGA package is supported, from an EP1S30 device to an EP1S80 device with approximately 80,000 logic elements (LEs) and more than 7 Mbits of embedded RAM. Together with two completely independent SODIMM sockets and two general-purpose prototype headers, the DIGILAB SX kit can be used to setup very powerful processing and prototyping systems.
About DIGILAB XA Development Kit
The DIGILAB XA development kit is El Camino's next-generation high-performance, highly integrated processor modules providing a number of user-definable network interfaces as well as general purpose I/O pins all within the industrial standardized 3U CompactPCI format. The DIGILAB XA kit utilizes Altera's EPXA4 or EPXA10 Excalibur embedded processor FPGAs incorporating an ARM922TTM processor running at 200 MHz, single-or dual-port SRAM, and an available programmable logic portion of more than 1 million system gates.
Pricing and Availability
El Camino's DIGILAB SX development kit is available now with a Stratix EP1S30, EP1S40, EPIS60, or EP1S80 device, and pricing starts at $2,595. Additionally, the DIGILAB XA development kit is available now with an Excalibur EPXA4 or EPXA10 device, and pricing starts at $9,795. More information about both boards can be obtained on El Camino's web site at www.elca.de.
