Agilent Selected for Fully Automated 300mm Wafer Parametric Testing

4/22/2003 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced that UMC, a world-leading semiconductor foundry, has selected the Agilent 4070|300 for fully automated 300 mm wafer parametric testing. The 4070|300, with Semiconductor Process Evaluation Core Software - Factory Automation (SPECS-FA), provides UMC with industry-leading reliability and performance capabilities required for 300 mm wafer production. In addition, Agilent received the UMC Excellent Supplier Award for superior quality and support services.

"300 mm production presents unique testing requirements, including exceptional reliability, support of industry standards for factory automation, and excellent engineering support, said Charlie Lee, Fab 12a section manager, UMC. "The Agilent 4070|300 parametric solution is the reliable and industry-proven solution that meets all of our testing requirements."

The 4070|300 offers maximum accuracy and throughput by placing the DC measurement resources in the test head and using intelligent measurement range control to speed up sweep measurements by 30 percent or more. The 4070|300 solution supports all current SEMI automation standards, thus reducing UMC's cost of test by decreasing the time required to integrate the 4070|300 into its overall 300 mm factory environment. SPECS-FA, the factory automation version of Agilent's leading SPECS parametric test shell, is optimized for automated factory environments and has a software interface that fully supports SEMI standards E5 (SECS II) and E30 (GEM).

"The Agilent 4070|300 underscores Agilent's commitment to continue to meet customers' challenges and to provide them with consistently accurate and highly automated test solutions," said Kenzo Ishiguro, business manager of Agilent Hachioji Semiconductor Test Division. "We are proud to receive the UMC Excellent Supplier Award and will continue to deliver superior test solutions and support services.

UMC Vice Chairman Peter Chang presented the Excellent Supplier Award to Kenzo Ishiguro of Agilent Technologies on March 27 in HsinChu, Taiwan. UMC evaluates suppliers with strict criteria ranging from service and support, product quality and cost performance to value delivery. Agilent is the only semiconductor test equipment supplier to be awarded in recognition of exceptional effort and contribution to UMC. The other award winners include KLA-Tencor, Applied Materials, Nikon, Tokyo Electron and others.
