4/16/2003 - SoftekTM, a leading provider of storage management software, announced that Allied Irish Bank (AIB) has successfully deployed SoftekTM EnView, Softek’s quality of service (QoS) software to help guarantee consistently high availability, responsiveness and performance for customers using its Internet banking services in Ireland and the United Kingdom.
AIB selected Softek EnView because of the unique way it measures availability, responsiveness and performance of applications in real-time and from an end-user perspective. This allows AIB’s information services team to experience application service levels exactly as its business and retail banking customers do.
“AIB 24 Hour Online hosted more than one million banking sessions in January 2003 – the busiest month ever,” said David Roberts, manager, eBusiness & Payments at AIB Bank. “During the month, 150,000 customers used the service an average of seven times and generated quarter of a million value transactions and 1.3 million statement requests. This is a 48 per cent increase in usage compared with the same time last year. And further growth is forecast for 2003.”
“Delivering flawless service is one of the most important elements of a successful online banking programme,” said John Stuart-Trainor, senior manager enterprise technology at AIB Bank. “Softek EnView allows us to view our services from the outside in. It also establishes an ‘early warning’ system which allows us to fix any service-level fluctuations before they impact on customer service levels.”
Reporting on application service levels is critical to the IT staff at AIB, which uses Softek EnView’s reporting function to provide accurate QoS information to senior management and the board of directors. This allows the IT team to demonstrate, from a single PC screen, that the online banking service is of the same high standard as the bank’s personal services. This resulted in the bank being awarded Best Business Bank in Britain for the fifth consecutive year by the Forum of Private Business.
