4/10/2003 - Artisoft, Inc. (NASDAQ: ASFT), developer of the first software-based phone system, and AudioCodes Ltd. (NASDAQ: AUDC), a leading provider of Voice over Packet (VoP) technologies and systems, announced a joint Voice-over-IP (VoIP) solution that provides an easy and economical way to manage voice communications across multiple sites. Artisoft's TeleVantage 5.0 can use AudioCodes' MediaPack Media Gateway to enable branch offices and remote staff to be connected to the corporate TeleVantage server. This strategic relationship, formed under Artisoft's Open Communication Alliance, empowers both companies to promote the solution to their respective channels.
With MediaPack, remote TeleVantage users function as local users, with simple extension dialing, Caller ID data, and access to the advanced features of the phone system, including the ability to graphically manage live calls and voice mail. By sharing one common TeleVantage server, these organizations will be able to reduce equipment and administration costs, and significantly save on long-distance charges between locations. The companies have successfully completed interoperability testing and field trials of the integrated products.
"Adtech Solutions is a systems integrator and Artisoft partner that participated in a set of successful field trials, testing the combination of Artisoft TeleVantage and AudioCodes MediaPack solution," said Tim Shadburn, President of Adtech Solutions. "Our business has a number of remote offices and we see VoIP technology as extremely beneficial for our organization from a cost standpoint, reducing long distance fees and eliminating the need for individual servers at each of our facilities."
"With traditional telephony, remote and branch office employees have suffered reduced access to functions, but open system has changed the marketplace," said Lee Schlenger, product manager for Artisoft. "AudioCodes MediaPack provides an easy and affordable way to make remote employees a seamless part of a TeleVantage phone system, providing corporate cost savings and increased remote worker productivity."
