QNX Offers Development Support for Broadcom SiByte BCM91250E Platform

4/10/2003 - QNX Software Systems announced a Board Support Package (BSP) that combines the reliability and scalability of the QNX Neutrino RTOS with the high performance of the Broadcom BCM91250E platform, an evaluation board powered by dual SiByte BCM1250 MIPS64 processors. By integrating QNX Neutrino and the Broadcom BCM91250E, the BSP provides networking OEMs with a complete, off-the-shelf package to jump-start multiprocessing system development and reduce time-to-market.

The BSP allows anyone using the BCM91250E to take full advantage of QNX Neutrino's distributed processing and true symmetric multiprocessing (SMP), as well as QNX Neutrino's high availability manager and high-performance protocol stacks, which include support for IPsec and IPv6. The BSP is ideal for any OEM developing control and data plane applications for VPN switch/routers, CMTS systems, DSLAMs, storage networking devices, wireless infrastructure equipment, core switches and routers, and other carrier-grade elements.

"In today's demanding marketplace, networking OEMs are focused on delivering carrier-grade equipment that provides high performance, high functionality, and tight integration while lowering total cost of ownership," said Sebastien Marineau, senior networking architect and development manager, QNX Software Systems. "By supporting the BCM91250E platform, QNX provides developers with an off-the-shelf package for building high-bandwidth applications that can scale from the edge to the core."

The BSP for the BCM91250E development system will be available in June 2003 as part of QNX Momentics Professional Edition, the highly integrated development suite for the QNX Neutrino RTOS.
