4/10/2003 - Exar Corporation (NASDAQ: EXAR), a leading provider of high-performance, mixed-signal silicon solutions for the worldwide communications infrastructure, announced the promotion of Dr. Roubik Gregorian to Chief Operating Officer. In his new role, he will continue to report to Donald Ciffone, Chairman, CEO and President. Dr. Gregorian was previously Exar's CTO and Executive Vice President/GM communications division.
At the same time, Exar announced the promotions of Dr. Bahram Ghaderi and Ms. Susan Hardman. Dr. Ghaderi is Vice President / General Manager of Exar's network and transmission products business unit. Dr. Ghaderi previously served as Division Vice President Engineering for Exar's communications division. Ms. Hardman is Vice President / General Manager of Exar's interface products business unit. Ms. Hardman previously served as Exar's Vice President of Corporate Marketing. Both will report to Dr. Gregorian in their new capacities. Also reporting to Dr. Gregorian is Michael Class, Vice President Worldwide Sales and Stephen Michael, Vice President Operations, Reliability and QA.
"Roubik has consistently demonstrated the managerial and technical leadership necessary to successfully execute our communication IC product strategy," said Donald Ciffone, Chairman, CEO and President. "In his new role, Roubik will have broader responsibility in driving the Company towards its strategic growth objectives."
The Company also announced the promotion of Mr. Thomas Melendrez. In addition to his roles as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, Mr. Melendrez will also be responsible for Business Development reporting to Donald Ciffone.
Prior to joining Exar, Dr. Gregorian was President of Startech Semiconductor. Previously, he held various senior management positions at Sierra Semiconductor and American Microsystems. Dr. Gregorian holds a Ph.D., as well as, a M.Sc. from UCLA, both in Electrical Engineering. Additionally, he holds a M.Sc. from Tehran University in Electrical Engineering.
