4/8/2003 - Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) announced that NMS Communications (NASDAQ: NMSS), a trusted supplier of communications products and services, has chosen TI's silicon and software technology for its next-generation carrier-grade Voice over IP (VoIP) platform.
NMS Communications' high-density products are scalable, high-performance development platforms for converged PSTN and IP telephony solutions, designed to meet the connectivity, flexibility, and performance requirements of enhanced communication services and packet-based media servers. With this agreement, a family of next-generation NMS carrier-grade platforms will be based on TI's TNETV3010, which combines hardware and software in an optimized architecture.

Each TNETV3010 processor incorporates six parallel processing digital signal processor (DSP) engines, providing 1.8GHz of processing and over 24MBit of integrated memory, as well as TI's powerful on-chip Telogy Software™ for VoIP. TI's TNETV3010 features an optimized design that provides high channel density, low power per channel, and toll quality voice features to deliver a complete solution.

TI's TNETV3010 features the industry's most comprehensive VoIP product suite with field proven carrier-class features delivered by TI's Telogy Software products. The TNETV3010 utilizes TI's most advanced semiconductor technology; offering 192 channels of full duplex voice in a compact 16 x 16 mm package, the solution consumes less than 6.5 mW of power per channel. Compared to Pentium-class microprocessors, the TNETV3010 contains three times as many transistors, yet is 80 percent smaller and consumes 50 percent less power. This combination of processing power, memory, and ultra-low power, make the TNETV3010 the world's most advanced voice over packet processor.
