4/2/2003 - Parasoft, the leading provider of Automated Error Prevention software, announced that SOAPtest, an automated testing tool for Web services built with SOAP, won Software Development Magazine's prestigious Productivity award. Winners were announced at the annual Software Development West conference March 26, in Santa Clara, CA.
"SOAPtest represents the spirit of innovation that's jolting the Web services world," said Rosalyn Lum, Software Development Magazine's technical editor. "Parasoft's commitment to improving developer productivity and quality is commendable."
For the past 13 years, the Software Development Jolt Product Excellence and Productivity Awards have been presented to products that have "jolted" the industry, making the task of creating software faster, easier and more efficient.
"Having SOAPtest recognized by the industry is great validation that our innovations offer developers solutions to the everyday problems they face," said Adam Kolawa, Parasoft CEO. "Web services development is growing and the need for reliable applications is increasingly critical to their successful implementation." SOAPtest is designed to help development organizations prevent costly errors in applications built with SOAP.
SOAPtest helps development teams prevent errors by performing server functional testing, load testing, and client testing with the click of a button. SOAPtest facilitates server functional testing by automatically creating a test suite from a WSDL document that tests every operation associated with that document. The same test suite used for server functional testing can also be used as a load test suite that not only monitors the servers response rate with the specified number and mixture of simultaneous requests, but also verifies whether the test loads cause functionality problems. SOAPtest can also emulate a server and verify that the client sends appropriate requests to the appropriate services, and that the client handles the services responses as expected. In addition to one-click server functional testing, load testing, and client testing, SOAPtest can also be used as a proxy server to view and verify messages between a client and a Web service.
