Marimba Focuses on Government Markets with End-to-End Solutions
4/1/2003 - Marimba, Inc. (Nasdaq: MRBA), the Software Change-Management Company, announced that federal, state, and local government agencies have adopted Marimba's Desktop/Mobile Management and Server Change Management offerings to manage their hardware and software assets. Marimba attributes this adoption to its comprehensive support for managing systems in virtually any IT network environment and to the improved quality of service and lower IT costs that can be provided to the public sector.
Currently, federal organizations such as NASA, the Department of Defense, Health and Human Services, U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), as well as state and local organizations such as Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) are using Marimba's software change management offerings for activities ranging from software distribution, OS migration, server management, security patch management, and regulatory compliance.
"Marimba's public sector value proposition is evidenced by the fact that we provide tight security features layered on standards-based technology," said Rich Wyckoff, president and CEO of Marimba. "This approach helps federal, state and local agencies, system integrators, partners, and resellers tackle the complex computing requirements they face. Couple this with comprehensive support for managing and maintaining assets across virtually any IT network environment, and it quickly becomes clear we're on the path to extending our leading technology across government markets."
Recent enhancements in Marimba's Desktop/Mobile Management and Server Change Management offerings of interest to government agencies include the following:
- Inventory Management Capabilities: Marimba provides secure access controls that help government agencies identify problems or vulnerabilities in their IT infrastructure. Marimba's hardware and software inventory management capabilities can scan every IT end point, and enable administrators to monitor compliance for security patches, application license usage and general asset tracking needs. This technology also helps IT administrators understand if, where, and when services or applications are affected by external influences - which is critical for managing virus protection activities.
- Application Packaging Capabilities: Marimba's Application Packager helps government organizations install, uninstall, verify and repair applications and content to desktops, laptops, servers and mobile IT devices. Marimba's Policy Manager enables IT administrators to mandate where, when and how applications, patches, and security updates are deployed. Marimba also provides specific data privacy and integrity functionality to confirm that data transfers have been completed in a secure manner.
- Reporting Capabilities: Marimba's browser-based reporting capabilities help IT administrators verify successful updates, and identify if there are any failures, or incomplete updates.
