3/28/2003 - Equator Technologies, Inc., a provider of high-performance, programmable and power-efficient system-on-a-chip (SoC) processors for video streaming and image processing applications, announced that they will demonstrate their BSPTM-15 video processor at ISC Expo/West 2003. Joined by partners, Equator will demonstrate enabling technology for a range of security and surveillance applications including digital video recorders utilizing low bit-rate, real-time MPEG-4 encoding and smart IP cameras with motion tracking, image stabilization and biometrics functionality.
Equator’s BSP-15 enables advanced compression algorithms for deep compression and lower bit-rate delivery, extending recording time for digital video recorders and lowering bandwidth requirements for transmitting video content.
Smart IP cameras utilizing Equator’s BSP-15 chip can perform a significant amount of processing at the edge of the network, and thereby reduce network transmission requirements. In addition, Equator’s BSP-15 chip is the ideal flexible platform for specialized advance algorithm for smart surveillance functions, such as facial recognition, motion detection and motion tracking within the camera unit.
"A major factor in our value for the security space is the programmable nature of our chip, which offers OEMs a platform to innovate and differentiate that is not available with hard-wired ASIC solutions," said John O’Donnell, co-founder and CTO of Equator Technologies. "In particular, security OEMs use Equator technology to keep up with the speed of innovation -- they can adopt any existing, new or evolving video compression standard the moment a new algorithm becomes available. We reduce the security system cost and time to market with our programmable SoC offering a cost and time advantage that OEMs can no longer live without in a climate where high-performance security is a priority."
Equator will be joined by development partner DynaPel Systems, a leading provider of advanced video products for the security sector, to demonstrate several DynaPel products based on the Equator chip platform, including its support for digital real-time camera stabilization technology. DynaPel will be unveiling its unique plug-and-play intelligent CCTV appliances SteadyCCTVTM, CloseViewTM and AlarmViewTM. These appliances are currently available to the market.
"Equator is the ideal partner for this new security video initiative," said Dieter Kondek, President and CEO of DynaPel. "The success of our real-time video stabilization is partly due to the enabling capabilities of Equator’s BSP-15. Combining our motion estimation and algorithm expertise with Equator’s video processing power, DynaPel’s SteadyCCTVTM will become the industry standard in electronic camera stabilization for next-generation video surveillance systems."
ISC Expo/West will take place at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas from Wednesday, March 26, 2003 through Friday, March 28, 2003. Equator will demonstrate in booth 3112s during regular show hours, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. Additional information on the show is available online at www.iscwest.com.
