3/27/2003 - Avaya (NYSE: AV), a leading global provider of communications networks and services for businesses, has selected voice processing technology from NMS Communications (Nasdaq: NMSS), trusted supplier of communications products and services, for its recently announced AvayaTM Interactive Response system. This is the latest in an ongoing collaboration between the two companies.
Avaya Interactive Response is the newest release of the company's voice applications platform for self-service. Avaya Interactive Response enables customers to access information, including Web-based data, by using spoken instructions, touchtone or rotary-dialed input from any telephone. Built as an open system, the Avaya Interactive Response is comprised of Avaya voice response software, a standard Sun Microsystems, Inc. Sun BLADE(TM) 150 workstation that integrates easily into Internet Protocol (IP) networks, and an NMS Alliance Generation® (AG) 4000. The NMS AG 4000 boards provide the foundation to process touchtone and speech-enabled access to information in company databases and business applications. The system comes equipped with the widely used Solaris TM 8 Operating System and 10/100 Ethernet connectivity, enabling streamlined and cost-effective deployment in converged voice and data networks. The open standards-based system supports end-to-end IP telephony through connection to award-winning Avaya MultiVantageTM Software and communications servers.
"We consider NMS to be a valuable solution associate," said Diane Shariff, , Avaya product manager, Self Service Solutions. "By offering field-proven standard platform components from industry leaders such as NMS, Avaya strengthens the interoperability of our communications systems and helps ease deployment for our customers while speeding our time to market.
"This is the third solution Avaya introduced in the past 18 months based on an NMS platform," said Gerrold Walker, vice president and general manager of NMS' Platform Solutions business. "With our experience in innovation and through our understanding of both Avaya's technical and business needs, we've been able to play a key role in the company's offering the best CRM solutions on the market."
