3/21/2003 - College playoffs are here and mobile device users won’t miss a dunk thanks to Infiniti, the luxury division of Nissan North America, Inc., and sponsor of this year’s My AvantGo® College Hoops channel. Back by popular demand, the 2003 Infiniti College Hoops mobile website provides all of the exciting NCAA Men’s Division I tournament action, delivering game-day information directly to users’ handheld devices – wirelessly or offline via synchronization with a personal computer.
The Infiniti College Hoops channel provides mobile users with ESPN Sports Ticker top news, the latest scores, schedules and bracket information, so they can stay current with the college basketball tournament even when they are away from their TVs and computers. Co-developed with OMD/TBWA Chiat Day/ Tequila Advertising Agencies, the mobile website is also designed to build awareness for the Infiniti FX45, Infiniti’s new premium crossover sport utility vehicle. For those new to the FX45, the mobile site features an interactive dashboard, where pop-up windows provide detailed information about the vehicle’s functionality.
"My AvantGo is an innovative medium that allows Infiniti to deliver valued content to its target consumers. Infiniti’s customers are tech-savvy busy professionals who need to stay connected. We believe the College Hoops Channel is an efficient and intriguing way to help Infiniti’s consumers get the latest game stats while they learn about the new FX45," Warren Schaffer, Director of Strategy-Infiniti at OMD, the global media company of Omnicom.
By sponsoring the College Hoops channel, Infiniti is taking an innovative marketing approach to reaching customers via an exciting, new medium that puts information about products and services literally in the palms of customers’ hands. With proven results and a highly desirable demographic of 24-54 year-old males, My AvantGo enables Infiniti to reach a captive and engaged audience in an uncluttered advertising environment at a fraction of traditional advertising print and broadcast costs. Infiniti’s decision to launch the 2003 College Hoops channel was based on the outstanding results it experienced with a previous My AvantGo mobile advertising campaign debuting the G35.
"Enthusiasm for college basketball overtakes the U.S. in March and Infiniti is taking advantage of that excitement among our target audience to debut its new FX45," said Neil Versen, senior director of My AvantGo sales and business development. "By putting the latest tournament action directly onto people’s devices, Infiniti is meeting an information need, as well as building brand awareness and interest for its new vehicle. We are pleased to be working with great brands like Infiniti to push the mobile marketing solutions envelope as part of our My AvantGo service."
