Anritsu Introduces First HSDPA Analysis Solution

3/21/2003 - Anritsu Company introduces measurement software for its MS8608A/MS8609A Digital Mobile Radio Transmitter Testers that creates the industry's first solution for accurate analysis of High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) signals. With the HSDPA software, the MS8608A/MS8609A can conduct high-speed transmission tests on HSDPA base stations and user equipment at both the development and production stages.

The HSDPA software is a natural capability extension of the MS8608A/MS8609A, which are part of Anritsu's portfolio of test solutions for digital mobile communications. Both transmitter testers can accommodate up to three software packages, so that the HSDPA software can be loaded in the MS8608A/MS8609A along with W-CDMA and GSM/EDGE testing capability. With a full complement of software options, the MS8608A/MS8609A can support the testing requirements for both 3G and 3.5G networks.

Combining a spectrum analyzer with 20 MHz resolution bandwidth, modulation analyzer with high-speed DSP processing, and power meter in a single instrument, the MS8608A/MS8609A have the advanced technology necessary to conduct accurate tests on the 8 Mbps (more in downlink) signals used in 3.5G mobile systems. With the HSDPA and W-CDMA software installed, the MS8608A/MS8609A can conduct the following measurements:

The HSDPA software also allows the MS8608A/MS8609A to analyze Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK) and 16-positions Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (16QAM). A per-code channel analysis feature evaluates distortion and other influences to each code channel, while a multi-code channel analysis capability enables the testers to evaluate overall performance. The 20 MHz resolution bandwidth allows base-band signal analysis and CCDF measurements to be made on as many as four carriers.

Flexible in design, the MS8608A/MS8609A allow input signals to be selected from either RF or I/Q inputs. For I/Q signals, balanced or unbalanced input can be selected. The digital mobile radio transmitter testers have GPIB data transmission of 120 Kbytes/s, allowing the MS8608A/MS8609A to conduct high-speed measurements on the production line. RS-232C and optional 10 Base-T interfaces are also available for remote measurement capability. A 6.5" TFT color LCD display makes measurement results easy to see.
