Parasoft Offers Preview of SOAPtest 2.0

3/19/2003 - Parasoft, the leading provider of Automated Error Prevention software solutions, announced a preview of SOAPtest 2.0, its automated testing tool for Web Services. The new version, due out in May, will be previewed at the Web Services Edge show in Boston, March 18-20.

SOAPtest’s automated technologies help development teams prevent errors by performing server functional testing, load testing, and client testing with just the click of a button. In addition, developers can also use SOAPtest as a proxy server to view and verify messages between a client and a Web service.

"If Web Services are really going to change the distributed computing landscape, the need for such applications to be reliable and error-free is more critical than ever,” said Gary Brunell, Parasoft vice president of professional services. “SOAPtest is designed to prevent errors in Web Services from the earliest stages of development."

According to ZapThink Research, "XML and Web Services are increasingly becoming part of the everyday architecture and framework for IT. Web Services and their resulting business process transformations will eventually break down many of the barriers among enterprises. This ‘seamlessness’ will gradually extend over multiple enterprises, finally merging with and describing the economy as a whole."(1)

New Features in SOAPtest 2.0

  • New technologies help users automate server functional testing, load testing, and client testing
  • New data source support allows SOAPtest to create functional tests where request and comparison values are taken from a data source
  • New GRS integration helps the organization collect and synthesize the results from SOAPtest and other Parasoft tools in order to easily track and analyze all test results related to a given team, project, or developer
  • New proxy server allows SOAPtest to function as a security filter, a translator or a monitoring tool
  • New HTML Reports help users share and print results
  • Redesigned GUI and Wizards guide users through steps required to perform selected tasks

Key Benefits of SOAPtest 2.0

  • Completely tests and verifies client/server functionality before deployment
  • Isolates and tests each element of a Web service system
  • Verifies peak performance of a server under heavy load
  • Identifies specific layer responsible for an error
  • Pinpoints errors by logging history of Web service traffic
  • Ensures security of Web service

"Parasoft SOAPtest is one of the few fail-safe testing tools on the market today that can provide developers with all the testing capability they need to fully test Web Services end-to-end," said ZapThink analyst Jason Bloomberg.(2)
