SMIC, Synopsys Develop Reference Flow For SMIC'S Advanced Processes

(NASDAQ:SNPS), the world leader in integrated circuit (IC) design software, announced that the Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corporation (SMIC) has established Synopsys' GalaxyTM Design Platform as the leading proven reference flow for its deep submicron processes. SMIC and Synopsys have worked together to ensure that the reference design flow based on the Galaxy Design Platform works seamlessly with the libraries and design rules required by SMIC's advanced silicon processes.

The SMIC and Synopsys collaboration has enabled the companies to develop a reference design flow that gives mutual customers a flexible, lower-risk environment, ensuring faster time-to-volume.

SMIC is China's leading pure-play commercial IC foundry, and the first to achieve volume production in eight-inch wafers with its 0.35 micron, 0.25 micron, and 0.18 micron processes.

Synopsys' Galaxy Design Platform
The Galaxy Design Platform integrates Synopsys' industry-leading IC implementation tools and intellectual property (IP), including Design Compiler, DFT CompilerTM, Power Compiler, DesignWare®, Floorplan Compiler, Physical Compiler, Astro, PrimeTime, TetraMAX®, Star-RCXT, Hercules and ProteusTM. Galaxy Design Platform incorporates consistent timing, common libraries, delay calculation and constraints from RTL all the way to silicon using the common MilkywayTM database. In addition, Galaxy offers designers the flexibility to integrate internally developed and third-party tools through the production-proven Milkyway design database. Galaxy Design Platform is currently in limited customer availability. General availability will begin in June 2003.
