3/12/2003 - ServerWorks Corporation, a Broadcom (Nasdaq: BRCM) company and the leading independent supplier of high-performance SystemI/OTM integrated circuits for servers, workstations and storage platforms, announced that it has corrected a yield limitation issue that temporarily impacted high volume production of its Grand Champion core logic server chipset. ServerWorks is now in the process of ramping to volume production on the chipset.
Under some conditions, one component of the current chipset has unsatisfactory yields that have affected ServerWorks’ ability to meet customers’ quantity requirements in the short term. A new version of the chip has already been taped out and is being ramped to volume production.
“Although supply of the affected parts will be somewhat constrained through March, we expect our shipments to OEMs to be back to normal by April,” said Raju Vegesna, President and CEO of ServerWorks. “Quickly identifying and resolving this issue, which involved a subtle sub-micron metalization coupling effect, is a testament to the rigorous joint quality processes of ServerWorks and its major OEMs’ engineering organizations.”
The temporary supply issue is not expected to have a material impact on Broadcom’s revenue.
