3/10/2003 - Oak Technology, Inc., (Nasdaq: OAKT) a leading provider of embedded solutions for digital imaging and digital home entertainment markets, announced that its IPS/5E page description language interpreter, that is compatible with HP's PCL5e and contains customized PCL5e compatible printer drivers, are featured in Heidelberg's Digimaster® 9150i printer. The Digimaster 9150i printer is a follow on to the successful Digimaster 9110 Network Imaging System launched in 2001, which also includes Oak's IPS/5E.
Oak Technology's IPS/5E interpreter enables OEMs to develop monochrome printer and multifunction peripherals that feature a fully Hewlett-Packard compatible PCL5 printer solution that is high-quality, high-performance and adaptable through access to source code. Oak also provides PCL 5e print drivers for the Microsoft® Windows® XP and 2000 operating systems. These drivers allow users to print from any Microsoft Windows application.
Heidelberg's Digimaster 9150i system provides high-volume printing customers with the flexibility to configure a device to very specific needs. The result is a faster, more robust solution. This engine is precisely designed to meet the rigors of on-demand print applications. It is highly productive and can create 150 black and white images per minute or 9,000 pages per hour.
"Oak's print interpreters are well-suited to meet the needs of the high-end production environment offering compatibility, quality, speed and performance. Heidelberg's continued selection of Oak's IPS/5E simply reaffirms our commitment to further penetrate the higher performance monochrome market," said Simon Dolan, senior vice president and general manager, Oak Technology Imaging Group.
"The Digimaster 9150i printer is a highly anticipated new product that expands Heidelberg's digital printing solutions portfolio and further strengthens the company's position as a market leader in digital print production. Our selection of Oak's IPS/5E page description language allowed Heidelberg to shorten the product development cycle while achieving superior print speeds," said Len Christopher, vice president, workflow at Heidelberg Digital.
