3/10/2003 - ACE Associated Compiler Experts bv announced that TOPS Systems Corporation (Tokyo) utilized ACE’s CoSy compiler development system in the development of a high-quality, high-performance compiler for its flexible task oriented parallel processor architecture products. CoSy is a commercial development system that allows compiler developers to efficiently generate production-quality compilers for a wide range of target architectures and programming languages.
TOPS’ aggressive development schedule demanded a high quality technology to aid in the compiler development process. In addition, ACE provided its technical expertise to the development team. This significantly sped up the development, allowing TOPS to reach its target in time. Through its extensive use of generators, CoSy significantly reduces development time while increasing compiler consistency and quality of generated code. TOPS plans are to use the advanced DSP support in CoSy DSP for next stage improvements in the compiler, taking full advantage of the application-oriented instruction enhancements in the TOPS architecture.
"Advanced architectures require advanced development tools to create sustainable products, but there isn’t much available that we consider quality. We evaluated all the possible compiler solutions to see which would maximize the performance of our products. After careful consideration, we concluded that CoSy fulfilled our expectations," said Yukoh Matsumoto, TOPS’ founder and CEO. "CoSy is integral to developing the intellectual property we offer to the mobile networking and communication appliance industry. CoSy helps us to provide a superior quality product in less time."
The relationship with TOPS Systems continues ACE’ long list of technology partnerships with forward-thinking companies. These innovative industrial CoSy users benefit from the product’s flexibility, with particular emphasis on embedded architectures. CoSy’s ease of use and ease of integration allow developers to design at a more comprehensive level, offering the ability to create maximum performance for flexible architecture designs.
"ACE has taken great strides to create an unparalleled product in CoSy, one that continues to gain acceptance among the industrial community," said Marco Roodzant, vice president of sales and marketing for ACE Associated Compiler Experts. "We are thrilled to be working so closely with TOPS on their innovative architectural IP, and look forward to a successful and continuous relationship."
TOPS Systems will release the application processor IP for products such as media rich cellular phones, digital camcorders, portable digital TV and web tablets in mid-2003.
