Titan Displays State-of-the-art Mobile Emergency Operations Vehicle

3/7/2003 - The Titan Corporation (NYSE:TTN) - a leading provider for information technology - announced that it is showcasing its state-of-the-art air transportable, mobile emergency response command center in booths 123-130 at the Homeland & Global Security Summit being held at the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. on March 3-5, 2003. Built within a vehicle designed to provide maximum flexibility for rapid, all-weather on-site deployment, Titan's Mobile Emergency Operations Vehicle (MEOV) is tailored to provide a complete emergency response command and control center capable of addressing virtually any disaster-from an earthquake to a terrorist attack.

"Having a common, interoperable, and reliable command and control system to handle emergencies and disasters has never been more important than it is today," said Gene Ray, Titan's chairman and CEO. "Titan's Mobile Emergency Operation Vehicle is specifically designed to respond quickly to any emergency, providing first responders with vital timely support when literally minutes are critical."

The vehicle provides a fully functional office environment remoted to the disaster scene and includes a suite of technology that enables and enhances first responders in their efforts, including:

  • Mobile communications that provide satellite and terrestrial communications, mobile LAN, wireless phone system to a PBX, and video teleconferencing.
  • Crosspatch communications capability between civil and military radio systems, using virtually all radio frequency bands (a problem experienced by first responder units during the World Trade Center and Pentagon terrorist attacks).
  • Operations independent of an outside power source using a 20KW diesel generator that provides 24-36 hour stand-alone unrefueled capability.
  • Command and control workstations for up to 12 staff members augmented by secure wireless LAN.
  • Integration of all standard communications technologies in a single mobile unit.
  • Digital Voice Logging system to document time series of events to support after action reports.

Titan's MEOV is also configured with APCO/P25 Standard 800 MHZ, VHF, UHF Land Mobile Radio Systems, as well as PRC-21 military radios. Titan-built portable and mobile radios and ancillary support accessories are designed to improve communications interoperability among different government agencies, including emergency preparedness and law enforcement.
