General Dynamics Select NMS to Develop Custom Gateway Technology
3/4/2003 - NMS Communications (Nasdaq: NMSS), trusted supplier of communications products and services, has been selected by General Dynamics C4 Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), to develop custom gateway technology for the British government's military tactical communications system. NMS was chosen for its consulting expertise and successful track record delivering specialized technology based on its world-class telecommunications hardware and software platforms.
NMS and General Dynamics C4 Systems are working together to provide a flexible gateway that enables communications between the public switched telephone network (PSTN), voice-over-Internet Protocol (VoIP) infrastructure, and the British military's secure, Tactical Integrated Services Digital Network (TAC ISDN). The gateway is part of an overall upgrade that General Dynamics is providing for Great Britain's military tactical communications system. The upgrade involves enabling policy-based control and management of network services from disparate communications elements such as PBXs, routers, switches, and legacy systems.
The communications gateway will benefit from NMS' Convergence Generation (CG) 6500C and Alliance Generation® (AG) 2000C system building blocks, as well as its proven Fusion software development environment. NMS' products deliver the scalability, flexibility and density required for today's communications applications and services.
