3/4/2003 - IONA®, the leading provider of Rapid Integration software (NASDAQ: IONA), will host the upcoming Executive Committee (EC) meeting of the Java Community ProcessTM (JCP), at its headquarters in Dublin on March 12, 2003. The JCP is an open and inclusive community-based process to develop and evolve JavaTM technology specifications, reference implementations and technology compatibility kits in cooperation with the international Java community.
The mission of the JCP is to guide the evolution of Java technology based on standards, to help ensure cross-platform compatibility, enabling it to operate on hundreds of millions of devices, from desktop computers to consumer electronics to industrial robots. The Executive Committees consist of a cross-section of the world's leading technology companies, open source, individual developers and academia, with representatives from Oracle, SAP and Fujitsu attending the meeting in March.
"The best minds in the industry come together in the JCP to innovate Java technology," said Onno Kluyt, Director JCP Program Office. "Collaboration on standards is crucial in fulfilling the needs of developers and customers alike and the JCP is delighted that IONA Technologies takes a leading role in pursuit of this goal."
The flexibility, interoperability, high-performance, and ROI that IONA customers enjoy are a product of the company's ongoing commitment to open standards. For almost a decade, IONA has been actively involved in standards bodies such as the Object Management Group (OMG), World Wide Consortium (W3C), Web Services Interoperability (WS-I) Organization, SOAPBuilders Forum, OASIS, and the Java Community Process (JCP), receiving an overwhelming re-election to the Executive Committee in November 2002.
"We are delighted to be hosting this executive committee meeting of the JCP," said Patrick O'Brien, Vice President of Corporate Strategy, IONA Technologies. "Standards are vital when addressing today's IT integration challenge because they can protect organizations against costly and time-consuming integration hurdles in the future. IONA is committed to providing our customers open solutions that facilitate application reuse and protect legacy investments so they may recognize their IT assets as valuable, and not as weights inhibiting their success."
As the leading provider of Rapid Integration software and Service-Oriented Architecture solutions, IONA is committed to Java technology, the JavaTM 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EETM) platform and the JCP standards process. IONA's Orbix® Application Server Platform (ASP), delivers J2EE 1.3 compatible technology in combination with CORBA® and XML Web Services to provide customers the industry's most comprehensive and scalable enterprise development, deployment and integration solution.
