2/28/2003 - Adaptec, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADPT), a leading supplier of desktop PC solutions for connectivity, storage and multimedia, announced it has seized the number-one position in market share for its FireWire/1394 and USB 2.0 PCI connectivity cards sold in 2002, according to the NPD Group, an independent market information company based in Port Washington, New York.

Adaptec is also garnering praise from the media and from customers with its video-capture solution. PC Magazine recently heralded Adaptec's VideOh! DVD, an easy-to-use solution for converting VHS home videos into DVDs or Video CDs, as "a much smoother ride" than the closest competitor. PC Magazine awarded Adaptec's VideOh! DVD a four-star rating.
Adaptec DuoConnect and DVPics Plus Capture Editors' Choice Awards
Affirming Adaptec's leadership, DuoConnect, a combination card featuring both FireWire/1394 and USB 2.0 ports, and DVPics Plus, a complete kit for making movies on DVD, recently captured PC Magazine's Editors' Choice in comparison to its closest competitors.
DVPics Plus is part of the Adaptec FireWire/1394 product family, which also includes FireConnect 4300, FireConnect for Notebooks and FireConnect Plus. The solutions help home-PC users to connect digital camcorders, scanners, CD-RW drives and other peripherals to desktop or notebook computers.
