"Fujitsu Consulting's Enterprise Mobility solution has a stellar track record within Europe and Asia-Pacific, which have historically led the U.S. in the wireless industry. Our North American clients can now benefit from our experience in designing, building and implementing mobile solutions that provide productivity on the move across the enterprise," said Michael J. Fujitsu Consulting's partners welcomed the introduction of Enterprise Mobility in the U.S. and Canada:
"Microsoft is committed to providing its enterprise customers with innovative, proven mobility solutions by partnering with industry leaders such as Fujitsu to deliver any time, any place access to information," said Jared Wheeler, general manager of global partners at Microsoft. "Microsoft is enthusiastic about the availability of Fujitsu's Enterprise Mobility solution in the North American market and looks forward to collaboration on this and other initiatives."
Microsoft's Windows XP Tablet PC OS, .NET Compact Framework, and .NET Enterprise Servers are key technologies for the mobile workplace. These technologies will be used by Winterthur Belgium, an insurance subsidiary of the Credit Suisse Group, for which Fujitsu Consulting is developing a mobile solution to support their field workers to carry out industrial risk assessment activities.
Dublin, Ireland-based Aircraft Management Technologies has partnered with Fujitsu Consulting to implement the world's first secure wireless device for transmitting aircraft technical and operations data to and from an aircraft via XML technology and portable computing devices.
This mobility solution – FlightmanTM allows pilots, cabin crew and ground engineers to capture and utilize operational information more efficiently, leading to improved cockpit safety procedures and eliminating the inefficiencies of paper logs. This has resulted in proven cost savings of over US$100,000 per aircraft annually and is being successfully implemented in, among others, DHL and Virgin Express.
Commenting on the collaboration of AMT and Fujitsu, Mr. Bernard Hensey, CEO of AMT said, "As a partner Fujitsu gives AMT access to top of the range mobility technologies as well as informed and trusted expert advice. We have found great synergy with Fujitsu Consulting in delivering mobile solutions to clients because we are both singularly focused on bringing the maximum ROI to our customers as quickly as possible. We look forward to expanding our collaboration with Fujitsu to bring wireless aviation solutions such as AMT's FlightmanTM to clients worldwide."
Chris Williams, Chief Marketing Officer of Fujitsu Consulting, said that Enterprise Mobility leverages the technological breadth of the Fujitsu group, the 3rd largest IT services group worldwide, and is based on industry-recognized consulting practices and methodologies, such as Macroscope®, that are incorporated into all Fujitsu Consulting solutions.
"Until now companies have struggled to justify mobile technologies in their organizations, but through our value management capabilities we can help clients identify the best places in their businesses to invest in technology to get the highest returns," Williams said. "The business case is now very persuasive for companies to leverage the innovation and functionality of wireless solutions to create a fully integrated, highly productive mobile workforce that can provide greater levels of customer service through common access to data, content and business functionality over different mediums."
