2/24/2003 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced that Prodrive, a technology supplier of high-end electronics, has purchased a complete manufacturing and inspection solution from Agilent Technologies and a leading supplier of surface-mount pick-and-place equipment. The comprehensive test solution used by Prodrive to inspect highly complex printed circuit boards includes the Agilent SJ50 and SP50 Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) Systems for automated manufacturing lines.
Using the Agilent SJ50 and SP50 systems as part of the joint solution, Prodrive can thoroughly inspect their electronics assembly process at each major stage, while inspecting printed circuit boards at industry-leading speeds. This results in enhanced operating efficiencies, which contributes to improved quality and higher yields at the lowest cost.
"Prodrive's selection of Agilent's Automated Optical Inspection solutions enables us to deliver the quality, flexibility and cost required for our customer's competitive performance," said Hans Verhagen, director of Prodrive. "The investment in Agilent's SJ50 and SP50 underscores our commitment to continue to meet customer demands."
The Agilent SJ50 is an industry-leading AOI solution with the flexibility to be used for paste, pre-flow and post-reflow inspection. The SJ50 utilizes the proprietary Monocolour inspection technique to deliver the lowest industry false call rate, thus reducing costs.
The SP50 is a high-speed in-line solder paste inspection system designed for surface mount technology (SMT) manufacturing. The Agilent SP50 provides highly accurate and repeatable measurements through 100 percent 3D inspection of all deposits, while providing reliable statistical process control output.
"Prodrive's selection of the Agilent SJ50 and SP50 reinforces the recognition our inspection technology is receiving in the industry," said Kamran Firooz, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Manufacturing Test Business Unit. "As AOI continues to be a major focus for SMT manufacturing, Agilent is committed to providing best-in-class hardware and software solutions that lead the industry in reliability and ease of use."
