Intel IXP4XX Network Processor to be Supported by American Arium New Debugger

2/21/2003 - American Arium, an industry leader in software debug and integration tool development, announced its intention to support the Intel® IXP420, IXP421, and IXP422 network processors based on the Intel® XScaleTM microarchitecture. With the February release of SourcePointTM 5.2, the latest version of the companyís flagship debugging software, the debugger supports the entire Intel IXP4XX network processor product line.

"American Arium has worked with Intel for more than a decade, building debug solutions for Intel XScale technology, and Pentium® and Itanium® processors," said Larry Traylor, Arium's CEO. "We're also a member of the Intel® Internet Exchange Architecture (Intel® IXA) Developer Network, a group of best-in-class companies with products that complement the Intel IXP4XX network processors. The end result is a host of outstanding emulation solutions across Intelís processor product lines."

The Intel IXP4XX product line is designed to meet different customer needs. The Intel IXP420 network processor is optimized for high performance yet cost-sensitive applications, the Intel IXP421 network processor offers support for data plus Voice over IP (VoIP) applications, and the IXP422 network processor includes support for cryptography. The Intel IXP425 network processor, already on the market, has the highest level of integration in the product line and meets the requirements for high-end residential gateways, wireless access points and security devices.

"Having software debugging tools available for our customers coinciding with the introduction of new processors is key to our customersí time to market success," said Nick Finamore, general manager, Intel Network Processing Division. "American Arium offers value to our mutual customers by having tools available when customers need them."

In the Intel XScale technology market, Arium already provides hardware-assisted JTAG emulation for the Intel® PXA210 and PXA250 application processors, Intel® 80200 processor and IOP321 I/O processors, Intel® IXP2400 and IXP2800 network processors, and Intel® IXC1100 control plane processor. Ariumís SourcePoint debugging software is rounded out with its SC-1000 and GS-1000 emulators for ARM and XScale technology.
