2/20/2003 - OSE Systems and Synergenix, a Swedish provider of advanced mobile gaming software, announced the integration of the mophunTM game engine with the OSE real-time operating system (RTOS) and OSE for Wireless Devices. Manufacturers of mobile devices can now build robust and power-efficient mobile devices with a highly advanced mobile gaming experience. The first mobile phone on the market integrating this solution is the T300 from Sony-Ericsson (on display in the OSE Systems Booth #2202 at the Embedded Systems Conference San Francisco).

mophun is a gaming platform that allows the end user to download graphic-rich real-time interactive games from the Internet that can be executed on the mobile phone.
OSE for Wireless Devices is a real-time operating system that can be deployed throughout the entire range of mobile phones from basic low-end to sophisticated, feature-rich smart phones.
In combination with the mophun game engine, the user is able to securely download gaming software without corrupting any other software on the system. OSE’s added functionality enables high-performance, advanced gaming while conserving battery power.

The mophun Technology
mophun consists of a gaming engine and gaming software that is tailored to run on small displays. The mophun gaming platform runs with extremely limited hardware resources with minimum requirements of an 8-bit processor running at 12 MHz. Competing game technologies require 32-bit processors running on 25 to 50 MHz. Because of the limited hardware resources in mobile phones, mophun games are one of the few in existence that can run on existing 2G handsets. The new 2.5 and 3G phones have experienced a decrease in manufacturing costs and will be offering an even more advanced gaming experience.
The OSE Technology
OSE for Wireless Devices is a specialized real-time operating system solution for mobile devices. OSE offers the complete range of functionality needed in modern mobile phones. This typically includes efficient power management for longer operation time, memory management for robust performance and dynamic software loading for dynamic software updates in run-time. How to Get the Mophun Gaming Experience
The Sony-Ericsson T300 phone is the first phone available on the market with the Mophun engine. The phones come preinstalled with the Mophun engine from the manufacturer allowing games to be immediately downloaded at www.mophun.com. Games can be downloaded via WAP directly onto the phone or to a computer and then transferred to the phone via a wireless protocol. In the near future more phones from a variety of different manufacturers will follow suit. Synergenix is also building a developer community based around the mophun gaming engine.
