First IXP2400 Platform in a PCI Form Factor Available From RadiSys

2/19/2003 - RadiSys Corp. (Nasdaq: RSYS) announced the ENP-2611, the company's latest IXP platform based on Intel's new IXP2400 network processor. The ENP-2611 is the industry's first IXP2400 development platform available with pre-integrated hardware and software, in a full-length PCI form factor.

With tight budgets, schedules and fewer resources, organizations developing complex applications such as Network Monitoring, Traffic Classification, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), and Firewalls, are in need of tools and products that maximize budgets and improve productivity.

The ENP-2611 is the only platform available today that offers an environment consisting of hardware, software, documentation and support components at a low cost. Additionally, the ENP-2611 is an architecture ideal for a variety of applications. Unlike ASIC solutions, which are expensive and lack flexibility, the ENP-2611 allows developers to not only expand functionality and I/O capability by adding plug-on enhancements, but to also dynamically change the software solution. These features can significantly extend the life of the product.

"RadiSys is committed to providing solutions that result in a lower total cost of ownership for customers and enable them to develop better products faster," said Fred Yentz, RadiSys vice president & general manager. "The ENP-2611 is evidence of that commitment and further proof of our reputation for being first to market with a low cost IXP platform."

"We are building a robust, versatile product, that is capable of high performance, interworking functionality," commented Fred Yentz, "Making the ENP-2611 available as a standard product means customers are guaranteed a unique platform that supports third party tools and allows customers to quickly evaluate a variety of development tools and software solutions."

Due to the flexibility of the ENP-2611, developers can implement application changes such as new protocols or additional services. Further flexibility is enabled with a high-density option board connector meaning future functionality, via daughter boards, can be added. Using microcode development tools and example applications from third party vendors, users can quickly evaluate a variety of tools and solutions. The ENP-2611 comes with an Enterprise Routing solution, which allows developers to evaluate the Intel Control Plane PDK, RadiSys IXP hardware and software components and the IP Infusion ZebOS. Advanced Routing Suite (ARS).

About ENP-2611
RadiSys has implemented the ENP-2611 in a full-length PCI adapter form factor. The board features a single Intel IXP2400 network processor. The product offers three optical fiber Gigabit Ethernet Interfaces. The fiber interfaces use Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP) optical transceivers. The ENP-2611 also provides an Option Board connector that will allow developers to gain an additional SPI-3 interface. This allows developers to add daughter cards with functionality like additional I/O, Traffic Monitoring or IP Security co-processors. The memory configurations include support for a Dual-Data-Rate (DDR) SDRAM 200-pin SODIMM socket, two x18 QDR II (1.8V) SRAMs, and 16MB of StrataFlash.

For microcode development, the ENP-2611 is compatible with the Intel IXA Software Development Kit. In addition, several Intel Ecosystem Partners offer development tool support for the ENP-2611, including the Consystant StrataNP. and the Teja. NP graphical development environments. The ENP-2611 offers support for WindRiver's VxWorks and MontaVista's Linux operating systems.

Pricing and Availability
The ENP-2611 will be available in July 2003 and will be priced at $4,120(US). Pricing for OEM volume quantities is $3,440. To place an order, or receive more information on the ENP-2611, please call RadiSys at 800-950-0044.
