Home Theater Specialists of America Votes Fujitsu General Vendor of the Year

2/18/2003 - Fujitsu, the leader in plasma display technology, was honored in January with the Vendor of the Year award from the Home Theater Specialists of America (HTSA), a national trade organization comprised of audio/video specialist and custom installation retailers. The award was the most prestigious of the four awards given by the HTSA at the recent 2003 Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

Richard Glikes, HTSA Executive Director noted: "In receiving the HTSA Vendor of the Year award, Fujitsu stood out as the most exceptional among all the HTSA member manufacturers. Although all of our vendors deliver excellent products and services, Fujitsu truly distinguished itself as the 'best of the best' with consistently superior products, on-time deliveries, and unequalled service to our retailers."

Tedd Rozylowicz, Fujitsu General Senior Vice President noted: "We are extremely proud that the HTSA chose to honor Fujitsu as its Vendor of the Year. This award acknowledges our ongoing commitment to providing our dealers and customers with state-of-the-art products and the highest level of support."

The Home Theater Specialists of America
The HTSA is a national trade association made up of the most respected audio/video retailers and custom installation specialists, whose product lines range from better specialist audio and video to ultimate performance high-end components. The 46 member retailers occupy more than 90 storefronts, and had more than $450 million in sales last year.

The HTSA offers a number of programs and services to support its member retailers and manufacturers, such as seminars, one-on-one meetings, co-op advertising, joint buying programs and advance product notification. HTSA members consistently win international awards for retailing excellence, voted on by the press and the industry at large. Many of the industry's leading manufacturers are affiliated with the HTSA, and work hand in hand with HTSA retailers in providing them with the latest products, information and services.

Fujitsu's Innovative History
Research and development beginning in the 1960's produced breakthroughs that led to the first color plasma display in 1993, followed by Fujitsu's first 42-inch plasma display in 1996. The monitor offered an alternative and superior solution from traditional CRT displays, by providing a thin, lightweight display with features such as a viewing angle of 160 degrees and a widescreen aspect ratio.

In addition to the introduction of its first 42-inch plasma display monitor, Fujitsu also worked towards the development of the first plasma digital video processor. The processor enabled Fujitsu to manufacture and introduce the first-ever HD (high-definition) plasma monitor in 1999. Fujitsu's subsequent developments in digital video processing led to the creation of the single-chip AVM (Advanced Video Movement) digital processor, currently included in all Fujitsu Plasmavision SlimScreen monitors.

Fujitsu Plasmavision SlimScreen monitors offer versatility for a wide variety of environments, from home theaters to commercial installations. Delivering powerful big-screen impact yet measuring only a few inches in depth, Plasmavision monitors are designed to outperform all other plasma displays in their respective categories, providing dramatically higher brightness and contrast along with ease of operation. The current lineup of Fujitsu plasma displays offers a host of advanced performance features, along with elegant styling and unparalleled installation flexibility.

Recently, Fujitsu was honored by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences with the prestigious Emmy® Award. The award was in recognition of Fujitsu's outstanding achievement in technological advancement and its contribution to the plasma industry.
