2/18/2003 - The XETI Transceiver from LS Research is a low cost compact Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum 900 MHz transceiver. It features the lowest power operation of any transceiver in receive and standby modes, with 500mW of RF output power and a simple serial interface. The radio is designed with the low power XEMICS XE1202 transceiver and the TI MSP430 microprocessor to enable a highly versatile, yet inexpensive transceiver platform. The module will be FCC Module Certified.
The XETI operates at 3V, and the low power consumption means that it uses 21 mA in Receive and 5 uA in Standby mode. It has 1023 Hopping Channels with an Integral Wire Antenna and RSSI Register for link quality.
Operating in the unlicensed ISM Band at Radio Frequency 902 - 928 MHz, the XETI uses Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum with Direct FSK Modulation. It can be used for both Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint or streaming data, having 65,000 Network ID's channel capacity. The I/O Data Rate Software is selectable in the range 4.8kbps to 115kbps. The modular firmware facilitates easy customization. The modules will sell for less than $100.
The XEMICS XE1202 can transmit and receive data from as low as 4.8kbps right up to 76.8kbps, RF output power can be programmed up to +15dBm (31.5mW) and the current consumption while in reception mode is 12mA. The on-chip frequency synthesizer ensures that the chip can handle multi-channel as well as frequency hopping spread-spectrum communications.
