2/17/2003 - CoWareTM, Inc., announced that Toshiba Corporation has selected CoWare as the key supplier of system-level electronic design automation (EDA) software for the development and deployment of its Media embedded Processor intellectual property (IP) known as MeP. Toshiba cited the industry leading CoWare N2C system-level design environment as a critical enabler in the success of the MeP SoC business.
"A powerful system-level design environment must be rapidly created and be in place for the MeP-based SoC platform," states Tohru Furuyama, Ph.D., General Manager, SoC Research & Development Center, Toshiba Corporation. "After an extensive evaluation, we determined that CoWare has the industry's most advanced technology and has the customer services capability we require for the MeP business."
"We are honored and excited to partner with Toshiba and participate as a key supplier on the MeP program," adds Alan Naumann, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of CoWare. "With our unique toolset, MeP users will be able to rapidly integrate, analyze, and optimize this new Media embedded Processor from Toshiba. CoWare's N2C design environment will help users to create world-leading SoCs for applications ranging from low-power consumer electronics to high-performance communications systems."
About the MeP
Toshiba's open and scalable Media embedded Processor (MeP), is a deeply embedded RISC platform. Toshiba has used the MeP technology platform successfully in the development of SoCs for the digital consumer market and is now opening the technology up to design partners and SoC customers. CoWare is a member of the MeP Alliance Partner Program, which includes tool providers, software suppliers, design partners and design houses actively involved in supporting the MeP concept and developing MeP-based modules.
For more information on Toshiba's Media embedded Processor (MeP), the MeP User Forum is being held on February 19, 2003 in Nūrnberg, Germany in conjunction with the Embedded World 2003 Conference. For more information or to register, visit www.mepcore.com.
CoWare is the leading supplier of system-level electronic design automation (EDA) software and services for system-on-chip (SoC) designers. CoWare is revolutionizing SoC and embedded software development by enabling customers to create design platforms that can be rapidly optimized to meet specific market needs. SoC designs consisting of embedded processors and software, busses, memory, new and reused proprietary IP, are created and verified using the CoWare N2C system-level design environment and the LISATekTM software tools. CoWare's design environment utilizes open, standard languages such as C and SystemC (C++), and interfaces with popular third-party tools from Cadence, Synopsys and Mentor. CoWare software is employed today by major systems, intellectual property (IP) and semiconductor companies, including ARM, Canon, Fujitsu, Matsushita, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Sony, ST Microelectronics, Toshiba and Xilinx. For the second year, the San Jose Business Journal recognized CoWare as one of the fastest-growing private companies in Silicon Valley. For more information, visit www.CoWare.com.
