Agilent Rolls Out Industry's Fastest Real-time Oscilloscope and Probing System

2/17/2003 - Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced that it has begun customer shipments of the industry's fastest real-time oscilloscope and highest bandwidth active probing system. The Agilent Infiniium 54850 series 6 and 4 GHz oscilloscopes are the only ones in the industry that offer four full-bandwidth channels, each sampling at 20 GSa/s. When paired with the industry's fastest 7, 5 and 3.5 GHz InfiniiMax active probes, this real-time measurement system delivers industry-leading performance, accuracy and probing connectivity.

"We demonstrated this product to more than 2,500 customers worldwide, and we are extremely pleased with the acceptance in the marketplace for our new Infiniium oscilloscopes and InfiniiMax differential and single-ended probe system," says Ron Nersesian, vice president and general manager of Agilent's Design Validation Unit. "When we announced these products in November, we promised customers February shipments and we've done just that. They appreciated the advanced notice for budget planning purposes."

Agilent is the only test and measurement company to deliver not only the fastest real-time oscilloscope, but also the industry's fastest active probe system for measurement of differential, as well as single-ended signals.

Agilent 54854A and 54855A Infiniium oscilloscopes provide a sample rate of 20 GSa/s on all four input channels simultaneously, which improves measurement accuracy of designs based on PCI Express, HyperTransport and Serial ATA, and reduces the chance of signal aliasing. The oscilloscopes also can capture four, full-bandwidth, real-time signals off a single trigger event. The oscilloscope's MegaZoom Deep Memory, which features up to 32 MB of memory per channel, increases the amount of information that can be captured from events leading up to and after the specified trigger event. This new measurement system is expected to be essential for R&D engineers in the computer, communications and semiconductor industries for validating and verifying the performance of new high-speed digital product designs.
