AEP Systems Launches SSL-based Secure Remote Access Appliance

2/14/2003 - AEP Systems announces the release of AEP SureWare A-Gate 1.1, a secure remote access appliance ideal for small and medium sized enterprises.

A natural evolution from AEP Systems' current product set, AEP SureWare A-Gate provides Secure Sockets Layer-based (SSL) authenticated access from any standard Internet browser to internal applications. This technology makes it easy to set-up secure connections with business partners, suppliers and customers because users can access web-based applications, such as email, from anywhere using any standard web browser.

"AEP SureWare A-Gate eliminates the need to install remote access software on company laptops," said Rob Lane, Head of Project Management at AEP Systems. "Remote workers can access web-based applications from any web browser - from their home computers or even at Internet cafés."

AEP SureWare A-Gate is priced at $5,000, making the product ideal for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) or for departments within large corporations. AEP SureWare A-Gate supports 50 to 100 concurrent remote access subscribers and is easy for a small or part-time IT department to deploy and manage.

"The SME market demands an easy-to-use product that is simple to understand, has minimal impact on the existing network environment and is easily deployed," said AEP Systems' CEO, Pat Donnellan. "Competitors offer products with complex and expensive feature sets that are often too costly for the SME market."

In a 2002 report published by international market research firm, Infonetics Research, analysts predict that the market for gateway technologies, like AEP SureWare A-Gate, will grow to $986 million by the end of 2005. Later this year, AEP Systems will deliver an application access solution with advanced features such as high availability, high performance and broader application support.
