2/14/2003 - Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE: TEK), the industry leader in video test, measurement, and monitoring, announced that Video Tape Recording Ltd., (VTR) a leading London-based digital post-production company with an international reputation for TV commercials and promos, has chosen Tektronix products for its newly installed Digital Cinema floor.
VTR's newly formed Digital Cinema division was launched in response to a growing demand for Digital Intermediate and high-resolution commercial work. VTR has chosen the Tektronix' WFM700 Series Waveform Monitors to ensure signal compliance in post-production suites as well as in quality analysis areas to ensure maximum client satisfaction. VTR has also installed the Tektronix TG700 Multi-format Signal Generator to provide the full range of timing and test signals required in this hybrid environment.
"The unique gamut displays on Tektronix' products are invaluable and well accepted by our colorists and engineers in support of both standard and high-definition work in these new facilities," said Bob Parsons, VTR's Technical Director. "VGA outputs from the WFM700s we have deployed are used to provide our operators with large flat-panel views of the signal displays."
"This is a clear cut example of our ability to design and deploy products that meet our customers' specific needs and yet give them the flexibility they need as the industry continues to transition to advanced technologies such as digital signal monitoring and high-definition broadcast," said Todd Biddle, general manager, Video Product Line, Tektronix. "The modular approach of our new generation of video products like the WFM700 and TG700 allow production facilities and system designers to customize their monitoring and generation requirements and allow expansion to high definition."
Selection Based on Performance and Reputation
The WFM700 family of flexible, multi-format waveform monitors addresses the growing market of digital signal monitoring and measurement requirements, including those for high-definition broadcasting (HD) and content creation. The WFM700 is an easy-to-use, multi-standard, modular platform in a traditional half-rack width package. With its digital signal processing, the WFM700 provides reliable and repeatable measurement of HD and standard-definition (SD) video formats. The WFM700 utilizes full digital processing and comes with an integrated touchscreen color display, which is 50% larger than traditional CRTs while maintaining the high display quality associated with CRTs. A user-friendly interface, auto detection of input video and reference signal, and other key features make the WFM700 the ideal tool for integration into evolving digital systems.
The TG700 family of video signal generators addresses the transitional and long-term sync and test signal generation needs of video post-production and broadcast operational facilities that must support a variety of formats and standards. The TG700 is the platform for a series of operational test signal generator and sync pulse generator modules that can grow as a customer's system needs change or grow. It is engineered with a flexible design, enabling upgrades via software and hardware modules. Each module enables the TG700 to support a different standard - analog, standard-definition, or high-definition (including 1080p/24 and 1080psF/24).
