2/12/2003 - Parasoft, leading provider of Automated Error Prevention software solutions, announced that both SOAPtest, an automated testing tool for Web services and SOAP based enterprise applications, and Jtest, an automated unit testing tool for Java, have advanced to the final round of judging for Software Development magazine’s 13th Annual Jolt Product Excellence and Productivity Awards. SOAPtest is nominated for "Best Web Services tool" and Jtest is nominated for "Best Testing tool."
For the past 12 years, Software Development Jolt Product Excellence and Productivity Awards have been presented annually to products that have "jolted" the industry with their significance and made the task of creating software faster, easier and more efficient. This year, finalists were selected from over 700 nominations in 11 categories, by a team of Software Development editors, columnists and industry gurus.
"This year the Jolts have evolved to reflect the ever changing technological landscape by the addition of several new categories to include tools targeted for Web development, business integration, testing and management," said Rosalyn Lum, Technical Editor for Software Development Magazine. "Vendor participation in these new categories was highly competitive and the fact that Parasoft is a finalist in two of these new categories reflects their company's commitment to offering the best products in the evolving marketplace."
"We are very excited to have two of our products reach finalist status" said Adam Kolawa, Parasoft CEO. "Both of these products were created to improve the software development process by enabling development teams to easily prevent errors and ensure software reliability. It is very rewarding to know that the Jolt award judges and development community see the value of both Jtest and SOAPtest."
Jolt award winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Software Development West Conference and Exhibition, Wednesday March 26, 2003 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA. Jtest has previously won a Jolt award in 2000 and a productivity award in 2001.
Jtest is an automated unit testing tool that automatically tests any Java class, JSP, or component without requiring developers to write a single test case, harness, or stub. With the click of a button, Jtest automatically tests code construction (white-box testing), tests code functionality (black-box testing), and maintains code integrity (regression testing). User-defined test cases and stubs can be added as needed. Jtest also helps prevent errors with a customizable static analysis feature that automatically enforces over 300 industry-respected coding standards and any number of custom coding standards.
SOAPtest is an automated inter-module testing application for Enterprise Systems that can emulate both the SOAP client and SOAP server. This allows for early module testing of applications that can help development teams focus on error prevention rather than trouble shooting and debugging late in the game. SOAPtest can emulate clients to verify web services prior to deployment; and working as the SOAP server, it can emulate critical services that are not available or cannot be accessed during testing, eliminating the need to disrupt ongoing business transactions.
