Connect Tech Introduced New Low Profile, PCI 2.2-compliant Family

2/12/2003 - Connect Tech Inc., designer and manufacturer of multi-port serial adapters, is adding a Low Profile, PCI 2.2-compliant family to its line up to facilitate the trend towards higher density systems while maintaining current PCI mechanical standards.

The first member of the new FireStorm/LP family is a robust four-port, RS-232 adapter. Its space-saving, MD1 low profile belies its speed and functionality. A Quad UART controls each port, providing 64 bytes of TX and RX FIFO per channel. The UART includes a fifth generation 16C550 compatible register set, a global interrupt source register and automatic hardware and software flow control.

High speed communication requirements are satisfied with data transfer rates up to 921.6 Kbps. This functionality and size make the FireStorm/LP perfect for embedded systems, thin-client systems or any of today's applications requiring a serial I/O card with a small footprint.

The FireStorm/LP ships with both a low profile and standard bracket, to fit effortlessly into your system. A DB-9 or DB-25 cable harness is also standard, and custom cabling solutions are always an option.
