Vanteon Awarded Contract for Transportation Standards

2/10/2003 - Vanteon Corporation, an industry leader in software and hardware engineering services, announced that they have been awarded a contract by the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE).

Vanteon has been engaged to support the Advanced Transportation Controller (ATC) Application Program Interface (API) project. Vanteon will evaluate the portability of the proposed API Standard, evaluate the completeness and consistency of the Standard, develop an evaluation plan and software suite for measuring the performance of API libraries and recommend modifications and enhancements to the API Standard.

The project is a joint effort of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE), the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) and the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), supported by a cooperative agreement with the Federal Highway Administration Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) Joint Program Office. The API will be used by any company developing applications for transportation, including traffic signal control, highway rail intersections, traffic monitoring, automated incident detection, transit preemption, freeway lane control, traffic control field masters, automatic vehicle identification, ramp metering, violations enforcement (red lights), variable/dynamic message signs, lane use signals, CCTV camera control and roadway weather information systems.

“Vanteon is proud to be involved in this leading-edge initiative with the Federal Highway Administration and ITE,” said David Wagner, president and CEO, Vanteon, “the work we are doing on the API has far-reaching impact, and will touch every one of us, every day, as we travel the roads, rails and highways of the U.S.”
