Fujitsu, EMC Partners to Deliver Integrated PRIMEPOWER and Symmetrix DMX Solutions to Solaris Marketplace

2/5/2003 - Fujitsu Technology Solutions, Inc. ("Fujitsu") a member of the worldwide group of Fujitsu companies, announced that it will add the new EMC Symmetrix DMX series to its storage product offering. The latest generation of the Symmetrix storage family, the Symmetrix DMX series, will enable Fujitsu's PRIMEPOWERTM server customers to meet their high-end storage challenges with outstanding performance, reliability and scalability in a SolarisTM environment for the next decade and beyond. This addition extends the Fujitsu alliance with EMC to resell their storage systems and software.

Based on the new Direct Matrix Architecture, EMC's Symmetrix DMX series redefines the performance, functionality and economics of high-end storage by providing new levels of IT efficiency throughout the data center. Faced with increasing demands for data capacity, performance boosts, and application complexity, coupled with lower budgets and resources, IT managers can benefit from the enhancements in redundancy, data integrity, and other areas offered by the EMC Symmetrix DMX series.

"The latest storage offerings from EMC represent a substantial leap over competitors in high-end storage, and provide an ideal fit with our PRIMEPOWER server family," said Richard McCormack, vice president of product marketing at Fujitsu Technology Solutions, Inc. "For customers who need unprecedented power, flexibility, and data reliability to handle their business-critical applications, there is no better server and storage solution than the combination from Fujitsu and EMC."

The Direct Matrix Architecture ensures the highest I/O throughput in the industry for the most demanding applications. This is accomplished by delivering direct access from the front of the storage array to the back. Symmetrix DMX also features EMC's Enginuity operating environment, allowing users to carry full suite of EMC software capability from one generation of products to another without interruption.

"Customers continue to face the conflicting demands of increasing performance, reliability and scalability while working with budget constraints and total cost of ownership issues," said Terry Richardson, EMC's vice president of Reseller Sales. "By implementing Fujitsu's PRIMEPOWER servers with EMC's Symmetrix DMX, customers will have an integrated, qualified solution for their Solaris environments, enabling them to consolidate their corporate information and applications onto a solution that exceeds their highest expectations. EMC and Fujitsu are combining their knowledge in servers, storage and managed services to help users solve business issues with superior IT efficiency in the data center."

"EMC's technology is a vital storage component in the Cellular South IT infrastructure, said Tad Hamilton, director of IT for Cellular South. "We combine EMC with Fujitsu PRIMEPOWER servers in a storage area network environment to run various mission critical applications. Our experience with the two companies has proven that they provide a solution that works."
