2/3/2003 - Cypress Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE: CY) participated in the Groundhog Job Shadow Day (GHJSD) program, a national initiative to engage students in the world of work. Groundhog Job Shadow Day is co-sponsored by America’s Promise, the National School-to-Work Office, Junior Achievement and the American Society of Association Executives.
“These young adults will be the future of silicon valley high-tech companies,” said Scott Harmel, corporate marketing VP for Cypress. “Cypress hopes this event will encourage students from local high-schools to consider careers in the mathematics and science fields. This event will benefit both the students and employees.”
Students from a local high-school will be teamed with Cypress employees to "shadow" them as they go through a normal day on the job. This experience will benefit students and enable them to absorb the personal and professional skills necessary for the technology workplace.
