Fujitsu Siemens Helps Futuremedia Deliver e-Learning to UK Homes

12/29/2003 - E-Learning solutions provider Futuremedia Plc (NASDAQ: FMDAY) announced that Fujitsu Siemens Computers, one of Europe’s leading technology providers, has become a business partner in making Futuremedia’s Learning For All? programme available to Royal Mail.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers, which has already established an enviable track record in Home Computing, will be the provider of choice of PCs and/or laptops to be installed at Royal Mail employees’ homes for all orders resulting from the first of six marketing campaigns. This ensures that all subscribers of this first campaign, ending on December 23, will have the best means of using the resources provided by the Learning For All? programme, including innovative and exciting e-Learning content through Futuremedia’s Learning Management System.

The programme provides extremely low cost access to the latest computer technology coupled with learning software, an Internet connection and access to their own “learning zone”. The package also includes a scheduled home installation.

Jim Kirkwood, UK consumer sales director, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, said, “Over the last three years Fujitsu Siemens Computers has embraced various government initiatives in this area and others, building a track record of successful implementations with delivery partners such as Futuremedia. Futuremedia is uniquely positioned in this market and so we see them as the ideal partner. We predict many more companies becoming interested in the programme due to the significant employee tax advantages it offers.”

“Education is a critical focus for us,” said Mr Kirkwood. “This is an excellent example of how partnerships such as these can drive towards a common goal, in this case increasing IT literacy across the population of the UK, allowing them to develop their full potential. With Royal Mail as a high profile early adopter of the Learning For All? programme, we believe other large organisations, both in the private and public sector, will adopt Learning For All? in order to encourage and empower their employees. We are pleased to partner with Futuremedia to support the successful implementation of Learning For All? at Royal Mail, and the expansion of the programme to other organisations.”

“Futuremedia is committed to working with Fujitsu Siemens on projects such as these to enhance productivity and enable individuals to use technology to acquire better IT skills," says Mats Johansson, CEO of Futuremedia.

"This partnership is extremely gratifying and demonstrates how our experience and expertise at providing solutions can truly be used to enable people to acquire all competencies necessary to them on a continuous basis. We hope this programme will become a textbook example of how to implement e-Learning both in the workplace and at home."
