REDSonic, Micrel Unveil 802.11g Wireless Digital Media Adapter Gateway

Integrated with a high performance residential gateway, REDSonic's DMA solution is designed for home users to playback digital media (including popular Audio/Video format files and digital still pictures) on a TV or stereo system. This solution is implemented on Micrel's KS8695P single-chip, integrated ARM9 gateway platform and Sigma Designs' EM8475 MPEG decoder hardware. REDSonic's software is based on the emerging connectivity UPnP A/V connectivity standard. Enabled with 802.11g wireless capability, this solution will allow media manufacturers to make wireless DMAs that can stream digital media from a PC to a TV anywhere in a networked home.

Designed to work with a wide range of well-known media formats, REDSonic's DMA solution is reported to support the following media files:

    Mpeg1, Mpeg2, Mpeg4(DivX), QuickTime

    MP1, MP2, MP3, WAV, WMA
