12/22/2003 - Tektronix, Inc. (NYSE: TEK), a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring tools, announced that the TDS7704B Digital Phosphor Oscilloscope (DPO) was recently selected by EDN as one of its "Hot 100" products of 2003. The story appears in the December 11, 2003 edition of EDN.
EDN selected the 100 best products of the year across a range of architectures and technologies and a plethora of categories-from analog ICs to multimedia to test-and-measurement tools. The selection was made by EDN's staff of experienced editors, looking back over the year to see which products still stand out in retrospect. "Of the thousands of products that manufacturers announce each year and the hundreds that EDN reports about, a select few hot products really make our readers sit up and take notice," said Maury Wright, EDN Editor-in-Chief. "From chips to boards to software to test equipment, the 2003 Hot 100 are the products that we, the editors, feel are sure winners." The TDS7704B is the only oscilloscope included in the EDN Hot 100 for 2003.
Steadily advancing data speeds and new serial architectures are a hallmark of today's emerging computing and communications technologies. Designers, running compliance tests on fast digital protocols, are challenged with the complexities of these new architectures and adherence to a hierarchy of standards that ensure interoperability between devices. The new Tektronix TDS7704B 7-GHz DPO raises performance levels with superior measurement fidelity, unrivaled analysis, and uncompromised usability to speed the validation, debug, characterization and test of complex, high-speed designs. With its 7-GHz bandwidth, the TDS7704B acquires signals with unsurpassed fidelity.
"It is an honor to have the TDS7704B recognized by EDN as one of the industry's 'Hot 100 Products' of 2003," said Colin Shepard, Vice President, Oscilloscope Products, Tektronix Inc. "The TDS7704B is today's ultimate serial data design tool, providing excellent banner specifications and signal fidelity to address high-speed data rates but also the solution set engineers need to be more efficient and confident throughout the design and test cycle. The TDS7704B embodies the technical capability and heritage of quality for which Tektronix has been known for more than 50 years."
