iAnywhere Rolls Out Borland dbExpress Driver for SQL Anywhere Studio

12/17/2003 - iAnywhere Solutions, Inc., a subsidiary of Sybase, Inc. (NYSE: SY), announced a new Borland dbExpress driver for SQL Anywhere® Studio, designed to simplify the development of database-powered applications using the Borland® DelphiTM and Borland C++BuilderXTM integrated development environments (IDEs). As a result, developers are able to employ their existing IDE expertise to quickly and easily create solutions that leverage the iAnywhere® database for mobile, embedded and small to medium sized business environments.

“Borland customers have requested integration with SQL Anywhere Studio,” said Simon Thornhill, vice president and general manager of .NET solutions at Borland. “The new dbExpress driver will enable developers to leverage this enterprise-class database, while providing the ease-of-use and development team productivity for which Borland is known.”

“With the new dbExpress driver, the Borland Delphi and Borland C++ developer base can now take advantage of the reliability, ease-of-use and small footprint of SQL Anywhere Studio to develop innovative database-powered applications,” said Mike Paola, senior group product manager at iAnywhere. “This announcement highlights iAnywhere’s long-standing belief in empowering developers to leverage their existing application development skills and expertise.”

“We use both SQL Anywhere Studio and Delphi in our retail point-of-sale applications, enabling us to develop sophisticated solutions very quickly,” said Andy Noppenberger at MICROS. “iAnywhere and Borland’s technologies are a good combination and the new dbExpress driver will make the development process even easier.”

The dbExpress driver for SQL Anywhere Studio is included in the recently released Borland Delphi 8 for the Microsoft ® .NET Framework and will be available by download for existing Delphi and C++BuilderX customers on the registered users area of www.borland.com/downloads/. Interested developers can also register at http://www.ianywhere.com/sql_delphi for a Webcast to be held on December 16, 2003.
