12/12/2003 - Cadence Design Systems, Inc. announced that it has been chosen by Agere Systems to receive the company's 2003 Strategic Supplier award. Cadence has been a major supplier to Agere Systems and this award further validates Cadence's strategy of working closely with its key customers to measurably impact their business results.
Thomas Linton, Agere Systems' chief procurement officer, said, "Cadence has provided Agere with key design solutions for the development of both digital and mixed signal products this year that have truly differentiated them among others in their category. The Strategic Supplier Awards are our way of publicly recognizing Cadence in an elite group of companies that contribute to Agere's efforts to offer our customers the best total experience."
Since 1998, Cadence and Agere have collaborated on a number of critical business and technology programs including the Agere/Cadence FE-ASIC program where Agere developed and deployed to Agere customers an ASIC handoff model utilizing Cadence's First Encounter® silicon virtual prototyping design tool. More recently, Agere and Cadence have worked together to develop technologies and design flows focused on developing IC package and chip co-design technologies in order to automate the link between the IC design process and package substrate design. Additionally, Cadence and Agere have closely cooperated over a multi-year timeframe in the integration of key physical extraction and verification IP developed by Agere into standard Cadence commercial offerings.
"We are proud to receive this award from Agere Systems," said Les Rechan, senior vice president and general manager, Cadence North America. "The award is a testament to our strategy of providing new generation technology capabilities and establishing customer connections that support Agere's ultimate business goals.
