12/11/2003 - VenturCom Inc., launched an initiative that will enable unemployed technology professionals to receive free design and development training at the company’s new Global Education Center.
VenturCom, whose state-of-the-art training programs include several that are specifically focused on leading Microsoft products, said it will offer free enrollment to unemployed technology professionals for all of its training classes on a space-available basis. VenturCom, headquartered in Waltham, is a provider of software solutions, tools, operating platforms, training and services.
”In order to maintain a competitive edge, it is essential for technology professionals to constantly update their skills and add to their knowledge base,” said Steve Woodard, VenturCom’s senior vice president of global operations, who announced the initiative.
“We understand the time, effort and energy it takes to search for and to find the right position in today’s increasingly competitive technology marketplace. We believe that by offering free training on cutting-edge products we can help our industry colleagues in a couple ways. Most importantly, we can offer them an opportunity to gain new technical capabilities that will make them more marketable. At the same time, they will be able to network with other professionals and gain exposure to new companies,” said Woodard.
“Unemployed technology professionals will be able to participate in any VenturCom course. We have set aside several specific seats in each course without regard to whether the class is otherwise sold out,” Woodard said.
"As a Windows Embedded Partner Gold-level member, VenturCom has a long track record of training embedded developers. By offering free training to out-of-work engineers, VenturCom exemplifies its dedication to grow the adoption of Windows Embedded products while giving back to the developer community,” said Jane Gilson, lead product manager, Embedded Devices Group at Microsoft Corp. VenturCom’s current Microsoft Products Training programs include: CE .NET Complete; Windows XP SP1 Embedded; Windows Server Appliance Kit 2.0; and Windows NT Embedded. VenturCom product course offerings include: Real-Time programming with RTX™ and Windows; and Phar Lap Embedded ToolSuite (ETS)®.
Complete descriptions of VenturCom’s courses, a current course schedule and other information can be found at: www.vci.com/training or by calling1-800-334-8649. All courses are offered at the VenturCom Global Training Center, 29 Sawyer Road, Waltham, MA.
VenturCom’s new training center, which opened earlier this month, significantly expanded the company’s training capabilities by providing dedicated classroom space and equipment as well as a venue for showcasing outstanding customer and partner designs.
VenturCom training has been designed to increase productivity with all of VenturCom and Microsoft Windows Embedded products, thereby speeding clients’ time-to-market for their embedded solutions. The company’s small class sizes and low student-to-instructor ratios provide greater opportunity for one-on-one consultations. In addition to product and programming fundamentals, instructors deliver real-world troubleshooting tips that can’t be learned from books or Web sites. The VenturCom Global Education Center is equipped with PCs for each student allowing all students to directly apply what they learn through hands-on laboratory exercises.
